Sven-Göran Eriksson watches Man City work out

Eriksson to Coach Mexico

Sweden’s Sven-Göran Eriksson has been named as the new coach for Mexico’s national soccer team.

On Monday the 60 year old Swede was formally fired as manager for the English Premier League club Manchester City. With a two year contract, Eriksson’s task is to qualify Mexico for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The Swede spent just one season at Manchester City, which he brought back to the top ten from the edge of relegation, after five years coaching England’s national team, which he guided to two World Cup quarter-finals.
