Winds Pose Risk For Forest Fires

Firemen are continuing to fight several forest fires across the country, with their efforts hampered by strong winds today.

One fire, close to Finspång in central Sweden is under control, but firemen say that they are worried that wind speeds over 50 kilometres an hour could mean that the fire jumps between the trees, making it more difficult for them to keep things under control. Local residents are being told that the smoke from the fires isn’t dangerous, but to stay inside and close windows and doors if they have breathing troubles.
