Sharpened Rules for Online Poker

Finance Minister Anders Borg is demanding tighter regulations for internet poker games run by Svenska Spel, the Swedish gambling monopoly.

In November 2005 Svenska Spel received permission from the Swedish Government to launch internet poker games in its own jurisdiction.

But Borg wants tighter controls now and has vetoed Svenska Spel’s sights on global poker games with other international state-controlled gaming companies around the world.

The Minister also demands that Svenska Spel clearly and regularly inform players of their total winnings and losses.
