Needle Exchange Proposed to Minimise Spread of HIV

On the eve of the Europride festival in Stockholm, the Social Democrats propose a 1.6 million US dollar information campaign on HIV. They also want to invest in a needle exchange program.

In a debate article in Dagens Nyheter, MP Ylva Johansson writes HIV is spreading quietly through Sweden. Last year saw the highest number of new cases reported since 1986.

Most vulnerable are homosexual men and intravenous drug users.

The plan is to develop sex education in schools and keep youth clinics open over the summers, an area that has been criticsed in the past.
