Nordic Nations, British Isles to Combat Tax Evaders

Sweden and the other Nordic nations are getting ready to sign an agreement with the British channel islands of Jersey and Guernsey - to stop Swedish tax evaders from placing huge amounts of money in these well-know tax paradises.

Island authorities say they hope the islands will improve their reputation by making once-secret financial information public.

Swedish tax authorities estimate that the state looses some 8 thousand million dollars a year from funds placed in different tax havens around the world.

The agreement between British islands and Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland is to be signed this autumn
