Dispute Over Recyled Glass and Paper in Sweden

The Swedish government is appointing a mediator in the conflict between local governments and paper and glass recyling companies after a number of collection stations have closed down.

The companies argue that the collections of the growing mountain of private imports of beer, wine and spirits bottles do not cover costs, and many local governments have shown no interest in covering the losses.

Most of the bottles are coming from neighboring Denmark and Germany where prices are lower than the Swedish.
