US Student Receives Junior Water Prize

The 2008 Stockholm Junior Water Prize was awarded Tuesday to Joyce Chai of the United States.

The student from southern California has received the award for discovering and charting the effects of a new category of micro-pollutants called silver nanoparticles, which industry had claimed were less hazardous and more reliable.

The Junior Water Prize is presented every year to a high school age student, and is part of the ongoing World Water Week here in Stockholm.
