Swedish Award to Google

Sweden’s National Encyclopedia is awarding its special international prize to the founders of what some might see as the reference book’s greatest competition, the search engine Google.

But Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin wouldn’t be here to receive the prize from Crown Princess Victoria in the October 6th ceremony. Instead the head for Google in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East will be accepting the award on their behalf.

The international prize was created by Sweden’s National Encyclodedia last year, to honor prominent disseminators of knowledge.
