NHL Season Opening in Stockholm and Prague

With the National Hockey League season set to open Saturday with games in Stockholm and Prague, the visiting American teams have been tuning up here in Scandinavia.

Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson scored a goal and set up another against his former Swedish team in Gothenburg Thursday, as the Senators beat the Frölunda Indians 4-1 in an exhibition game.

The Senators will face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday at Stockholm’s Globe Arena, while the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning will open the new NHL season in Prague.

The Penguins warmed up Thursday with a game in Helsinki, defeating the Finnish team Jokerit, also by a 4-1 margin.
