Sweden not willing to bail out European banks

Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt has made it clear that Sweden is not willing to sacrifice taxpayers’ money to bail out crisis-shaken banks in other European countries. He said that each country with banks suffering from the financial turbulences would have to seek solutions on a national basis.

The finance ministers of the EU-member countries convened in Luxemburg on Tuesday to discuss the global crisis and possibilities for a common political position.

After a 7.1 percent plunge on Monday the Stockholm stock exchange showed a somewhat milder downward trend on Tuesday, with a 1.9 percent loss at noon time.
