Free shots for pensioners

Free flu-vaccination for the elderly

Amid growing concern about the threat of a new outbreak of influenza the Institute for Infectious Disease Control urges people to get vaccinated. A spokesperson for the Institute said in Stockholm that protection against influenza is now more necessary than ever because the latest form of flu virus, the H3N3, is more aggressive than earlier viruses.

The Institute is worried that thousands of elderly people may die of influenza if they don’t protect themselves. Persons 65 years and older can get vaccinated free of charge. Last winter more than one thousand Swedes succumbed to influenza.
