Premature Babies Fare Well in Life

Babies born extremely early have a good chance of living a healthy life, reports Swedish Radio in Östergötland.

The first long term study into babies born under 1500 grams, or three and a half pounds, followed children born in three municipalities in Sweden during 1987/8 up to the present day.

Only premature boys were found to have more hospital visits than those in the control group.

The researcher in charge of the study at Linköping University says the next step is to find why these children are born so prematurely.
