The German woman convicted of killing two young children and the attempted murder of their mother has been sentenced to life in prison.

Despite the lack of DNA or fingerprints, Västermanland’s district court say there ’remained convincing evidence’ to convict the defendant.

The 32-year-old woman attacked the family in their home in Arboga in March earlier this year.

She was judged psychologically sane at the end of August and could therefore be sent to prison. She will expelled from Sweden at the end of her sentence.

The prosecution state her previous relationship with the mother’s boyfriend to be the motive behind the murders.

The woman’s lawyer says they will appeal today’s decision.
