Move Causes Delays Transporting Asylum Seekers

Police are having problems transporting rejected asylum seekers out of the country after the Swedish correctional system’s transport services moved from Gothenburg to Arvidsjaur in the north of Sweden last May.

Swedish Radio news reports that detainees are having to wait too long in detention as the new employees cannot cope with the task.

Around 230 people are actively taken out of Sweden every month, with asylum seekers, who have not been granted permission to stay, making up three quarters of the figure.
