EU Climate Goals Debatted Again

European Union environment ministers are in disagreement over a call to roll-back plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

At a meeting in Luxembourg Monday, Italy reportedly kept up pressure to dilute the EU’s climate proposals, but most other members reportedly reaffirmed the goals.

Swedish Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren says he expects the critics’ concerns could be solved by the EU summit in December.

He adds that the debate at the Luxembourg meeting was less contentious than some of the ministers’ rhetoric to home media.
