Building standards to be reviewed as climate changes

The recently recorded rapid climate changes may affect Swedish building rules. The National Board of Housing and Building announced that present regulations will be reviewed in order to ensure that building standards will meet future climate conditions.

A spokesman said that it would be essential to protect buildings against more extreme forms of climate, such as rapid temperature changes, stronger winds, higher humidity, and rising amounts of precipitation. This would require more solid construction and better insulation of foundations, walls, and roofs.
