Nordic Aid to Iceland

The TT news agency reports that Sweden is taking a leading role in Nordic efforts to help Iceland out of its finance crisis.

At the Nordic Council meeting in Helsinki, the finance ministers of the five countries have appointed a working group to deal with the situation.

Swedish Finance Minister Anders Borg says the Nordic countries will follow-up and complement the International Monetary Fund’s package for Iceland.

On Tuesday the autonomous Danish Faroe Islands announced a 50 million dollar loan to Iceland.
