Liberals Demand Euro Vote by 2011

The Swedish Liberal Party now wants a referendum on joining the euro to be held by 2011 at the latest.

The Liberals are part of the ruling centre-right coalition that has agreed not to hold a euro referendum during their current administration.

Opposition politicians remain sceptical of the Liberals’ claims that current financial worries make staying outside the Eurozone dangerous for Sweden. But the Liberals demand that if the centre-right coalition wins again a referendum should be held immediately.
