Swedish Inflation Rate Plummets

The inflation rate in Sweden in December was 0.9%, a huge 1.3 percentage point fall compared to November’s figures. Henrik Mitelman from SEB bank says it’s the biggest fall in inflation figures since records began. He now expects Sweden’s central bank to slash interest rates even further, possible down from today’s rate of 2% to 0.5% by April.

Inflation plummeted due to cheaper mortgage rates, petrol, clothes and electricity, according to Statistics Sweden.
