Gaza Conflict Overshadows Davis Cup

Published tisdag 13 januari 2009 kl 10.55

Sweden should not play in the coming Davis Cup tennis match with Israel. This demand comes from the Swedish Left Party and the Social Democratic Women’s organisation. They say that Sweden should avoid sporting events with any country currently in a state of war.

Hans Linde, spokesperson for the Left Party, would like to see a full boycott of Israel when it comes to both sports and culture, according to Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan. The match is set to be played in Malmö, in Southern Sweden, in the beginning of March.
