EU Call for release of Swedish Journalist

The European Parliament has demanded the release of journalist Dawit Isaak, who has been held in an Eritrean prison for seven years.

Isaak, who has dual Swedish and Eritrean citizenship, was arrested following a clampdown on independent media in the African nation.

Despite the long time in prison, Isaak has not yet been convicted of any crime. The resolution from the parliament calls for the immediate release of Dawit Isaak and other imprisoned journalists in the country.
