Plane close to crash in suburb

A French jet almost crashed into Swedish television transmitters just outside of Stockholm in late November 2008. The plane was a Learjet 40, which had flown from Paris and was to land at Stockholm’s Nacka Airstrip.

Traffic Control at the airport suddenly noticed that the plane was coming in too low. Control alerted the pilots who then managed to change course. They avoided a collision with 15 second to spare.

At the time of the incident, the plane was in the midst of thick clouds and the pilots never saw the 300 m high transmitters.  The plane could later land safely. There were no passengers aboard at the time of the incident.
