Airborne particles Baltic’s main pollutant

Poisonous amounts of dioxins are still present in the Baltic Sea. A survey carried out by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency together with the universities of Stockholm and Umeå shows large amounts of dioxins, PCB and other pollutants in the Baltic.

This has many consequences for the environment and the fauna of coastal areas. Measurements show that this is partly caused by airborne emissions from Germany, Russia and Poland. The survey will be handed to the government today.
