Exhibition Honors Murdered Swedish Diplomat, UN Middle East Mediator

A look at another murdered Swede – a member of the Swedish Royal family, assassinated in Jerusalem 60 years ago, while working as the UN’s appointed mediator in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Folke Bernadotte was the first official mediator in the UN’s history, but it was his efforts to save thousands of people held in German concentration camps during the war, using a convoy of white buses, which captured the public’s imagination.

Honoring those events, a display in central Stockholm of one of the original buses.
