Mysterious Light over Southern Sweden

A blue flash lit up the evening sky in southern and western parts of Sweden this weekend.

Around 8 PM on Saturday the Swedish Police and Rescue Services received a large amount of calls from worried Swedes. The light only lasted for a few seconds but was unusually sharp and bluish. According to the authorities, it was neither a flying saucer, nor a crashing satellite, but rather a so called bolide, a meteorite which catches fire while passing through the atmosphere.
