International Year of Astronomy

In honor of Galileo’s first discoveries through a telescope exactly 400 years ago, 2009 has been declared the International Year of Astronomy.

Sweden is marking the year with many activities, including many aimed at school children. As an added attraction, during the year Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang will be returning to space.
