Talks Continue

No Loan to Save Saab Yet

The center-right Swedish government is demanding more details before deciding on any loan guarantee to the American car maker General Motors to save Saab production here in Sweden.

The American company has threatened to sell Saab because of drastically falling sales both in the United States and Europe.

Swedish government sources maintain that discussions with General Motors are continuing and that Sweden wants to see more long-term plans for Saab  before any guarantees can be given.
