Credit Crunch

Love in times of Financial Crisis

Stockholm Romance

The credit crunch is making the Swedish people look for someone to hug. Matchmaking sites report hectic activity in the last few months and today up to three times as many hopeful swedes turn up at single’s events as last year, according to Swedish newspaper Metro.

Johan Landgren, founder of a Swedish matchmaking site, told Metro that the reason for this increase is very likely due to the fact that it is harder to be single and proud when the future is uncertain. Mostly, people look for some security during difficult times, Landgren told Metro.

Whether sales figures for Valentine’s Day gifts will be higher or lower this year is not yet known – but as they say  -  “all you need is love.”
