Lego Jesus Unveiled in Västerås

Just in time for Easter, parishioners at a provincial Swedish church have finished a full-sized statue of Jesus, made entirely out of Lego bricks.

It’s taken around a year and a half for parishioners at the Önsta Gryta church in Västerås, west of Stockholm, to assemble the statue from donated Lego pieces. The Lego statue is based on a famous 19th century sculpture of the Resurrected Christ, by Bertel Thorwaldsen, in the Church of Our Lady in Copenhagen.

Chaplain Per Wilder believes around 30,000 Lego bricks have been used to create the statue.
