Warmest April Ever

April 2009 was the warmest April ever in Sweden. For the first time since temperature measurements started in the 18th century, many Swedish regions reached official summer temperatures, according to Swedish meteorological service SMHI.

Cities like Gothenburg, Stockholm and Uppsala denoted temperatures above 10 degrees Celsius over a couple of days – which is the official meteorological definition of summer.

Even Norrland, the Nordic regions of Sweden, saw an unusual warm April – albeit not the beginning of the summer yet.
