Budget Problems

Police Offices Closed during Summer

It might be difficult to get in touch with the police during this summer. Struggling with severe budget problems, a significant number of police offices throughout the country will be closed between June and August. Others will merely shorten their opening hours.

Swedish Radio news reports that police offices especially in the Kalmar region, in Gävle and on the Baltic Sea island of Gotland are trying to save money by renouncing to hire temporary civil personnel.

Sweden’s police authority maintains though that the saving measures will not affect the actual number of police officers on duty.
