Final Day to File Tax Return

Monday is the final day for Swedes to file their tax returns and as every year, many Swedes will be queuing up in front of tax authorities to hand in their papers in the very last minute. The authorities have announced that everyone who files a tax return after May 4th will be fined $US 120 in the first three months.

If one files the tax return with more than three months delay, the fine rises to $US 240. After five months one has to pay $US 360. Nevertheless filing a tax return becomes easier every year. The vast majority of Swedes now simply needs to confirm the tax figures either by phone, by text message or on the Internet. (ah)
