The planned purchase of an additional six Swedish JAS Gripen fighter planes by Thailand may be postponed indefinitely, the Bangkok Post reports. According to the paper the global economic crisis is jeopardizing plans to further modernize the Thai air force. The Asian country had previously ordered six of the planes built by SAAB’s aircraft division. They are to be delivered in 2011. A SAAB spokesperson said that so far the company had not been informed of a change of plans by the Bangkok government.
