"Loyal Arrow"

Tolgfors Defends NATO-Manoeuvre

Minister of Defence, Sten Tolgfors, has defended his country’s hosting of the largest NATO manoeuvre that has ever taken place on Swedish soil. Speaking to news agency TT, Tolgfors expressed pride over the fact that the military exercise is being conducted in Sweden. “This has nothing to do with a possible Swedish NATO-membership. We are simply showing that we take our international responsibility seriously”, Tolgfors said.

Peace activists and leftist political groups had begun with protests last weekend before the exercise kicked off Monday. About 50 war planes for several countries as well as other military equipment are being used in the manoeuvre which is titled “Loyal Arrow” and scheduled to end in the middle of next week. (ah)
