Same Rules For All Schools

Sweden's local authority schools and free schools are to become more alike if a new school bill presented before the media on Monday becomes law.

Education Minister Jan Björklund said that in future, free schools would have to follow the same curriculum, teaching plans and timetable as local authority schools.

The bill will also allow religious free schools to continue but under tougher guidelines.

Parents will also not have the right to forbid their children from taking part in physical education classes like athletics or swimming.
