More Swedish Forces To Somali Coast

Sweden is willing to send more forces to the waters off the coast of Somalia, according to Swedish Defence Minister Sten Tolgfors. His announcement comes after the European Union decided to extend the mandate of the current mission to the region, which was due to end in December. Even though that is 6 months away EU defence ministers decided on an extension, because they judge the threats to commercial shipping and aid transports from Somali pirates will continue for the time being.

Tolgfors says he could even consider sending Swedish largest Navy ship, HMS Carlskrona, to the area.
