Foreign Students Will Get Vaccine

Foreign students who are studying in Sweden will get the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine when they are introduced this fall. Swedish students abroad, however, have no such guarantee.

Although EU countries do work together when it comes to health care, their cooperation does not cover preventative health measures like vaccines. Swedish Radio News reports that Sweden's health ministry is negotiating with other EU countries about issuing vaccines to Swedes abroad, but it may take up to three weeks to get an answer.

Swedes who are studying outside the EU, on the other hand, have full responsibility themselves to ensure that they have adequate health insurance in which the vaccine is included.
