Peter Forsberg playing for Modo in February

Forsberg on Olympic Roster

Swedish ice hockey star Peter Forsberg still doesn’t know if he’ll be playing at all this year, but the coach of the Swedish national team has already pencilled the former NHL MVP into the roster for the upcoming Winter Olympics.

After missing most of last year’s NHL season with an injury, Forsberg has been practising with his old Swedish team Modo since August, and is playing in a tournament in Switzerland this weekend.

Swedish national team coach Bengt-Åke Gustafsson says “We’ll see if it will work for him” about putting the 36 year old Forsberg on the roster for the Vancouver games. Under Gustafsson leadership, Sweden took gold at the 2006 Turin Olympics.
