The island of Åland stands host to jazzloving Nordic neighbours

A Really Nordic Jazz Festival

Of the many international jazz and music festivals in this part of the world this season, one is very special for several reasons. It's a small, annual festival always going "Nordic" in a big way – with a heavy dose of Swedish.

And it takes place in the middle of the Baltic Sea - on a Swedish-speaking island belonging to Finland – ever since the islands and the rest of Finland were lost to Russia exactly after 200 years ago this year – after 6 centuries of Swedish rule.
