Money for Civil Society Research

The centre-right government is launching a ten year programme for research into civil society and how various services in society can be improved with the help of NGOs and the voluntary sector. 3 million US dollars will annually be invested in interdisciplinary research about the civil society as well as applied research for example at government authorities. The money will also be used for developing statistics for this sector and publicising the results of the research.

On average, the Swedes spend 16 hours per month on voluntary work. 54% of men and 43% of women say they do some voluntary work. Most of it takes place in various sport organisations.
