Royal Wedding Popular in Army

The Swedish military is counting on sending up to 3000 soldiers to the upcoming royal wedding between Crown Princess Victoria and her fiancé Daniel Westling next year.

According to the Blekinge Läns Tidning newspaper, interest for taking part in the wedding is huge.

Richard Beck-Friis Häll from the Life Guards unit, is responsible for co-ordinating the military's involvement in the celebrations.

"when the King and Queen married back in 1976, 2300 soldiers formed a barrier along the route of the cortège, we're counting on sending at least as many this time round", he told the paper.
