gripen fighter deal

Saab Accused of Playing Dirty

Saab wants to sell the Gripen fighter to Brazil

A French aircraft maker has lashed out at Sweden’s Saab and an American rival for playing dirty over a multi-billion dollar contract.

Dassault says that Saab and Boeing are trying to influence the deal to sell jet fighters to Brazil by claiming that its plane is too expensive. At a press conference in Brasilia, an executive for the French company said the claims do not correspond to reality.

The French fighter is considered to be front runner for the contract after the presidents of Brazil and France issued a joint statement two months ago saying that negotiations to buy the planes had already begun.
