Early Retirement Increasing in Sweden

One in ten Swedes between the ages 40 and 49 has taken early retirement and receive sickness or disability benefits, according to a report from the Swedish Social Insurance Office. This is twice as many as in the 1990’s.

The highest increase is among single parents, where more than three times as many receive sickness benefits compared to 1991.
