8 Fmr. Volvo heads:

“Don’t Sell Volvo to Geely”

Eight former heads of Volvo Cars and the Volvo Group have called on current owner Ford not to sell the Swedish brand to Chinese Geely. Swedish newspaper Dagens Industri reports that the eight former heads have written a letter to US automaker Ford in which they point out that Geely is not an appropriate candidate to take over Volvo Cars.

In the letter the former heads claim that Geely lacks the competence to develop the Swedish brand. One of the people who signed the letter is also in the bidding process to acquire Volvo – the Swede Sören Gyll, currently working as an advisor to the consortium Jakob. Butt Gyll says he has ceased with this assignment in order to call on Ford not to sell its Swedish auto brand before closely analyzing the international car market once again.
