Opposition Increases Lead

A new poll carried out by opinion research institute Sifo sees the opposition increasing its lead. If elections were held today, Social Democrats, the Greens and the Left Party would receive 52.2 percent of the votes.

The current government coalition of conservative Moderates, Liberals, the Christian Democrats and the Center Party would merely get 40.8 percent – with the Christian Democrats not even getting over the four-percent-threshold to enter the parliament.

The xenophobic Sweden Democrats would receive 5.1 percent.

The next general election in Sweden will take place on 19 September.
