When shopping Swedes prefers card to cash.

Swedes Choose Kicks Over Gadgets

The Swedish consumer is more willing to spend on travel and experiences than on gadgets and interior design, according to a survey carried out by market research company Sifo.

And when it comes to payment – plastic is fantastic.

The survey shows that 9 out of 10 Swedish shoppers intend to spend as much on leisure activities, going to the cinema or dining out the coming 3 months as they are now. 7 out of 10 are hoping to spend the same amount on travel.

However, a large decrease in consumption can be seen when it comes to electronic gadgets, furniture and interior design.

The survey also shows that Swedes prefer plastic over cash. Only 2 out of 10 prefer to make their purchases with cash, with a majority of these over 65 years of age. 7 out of 10 puts their purchase on card, whether bankcard or credit card.

The survey was carried out in November and the results are based on countrywide telephone interviews with 1000 people from the age of 15 and up.
