Hungary to Support ESS in Lund

Hungary has decided to support Lund as the site of the European Spallation Source (ESS), a research facility set to use neutron scattering techniques, news agency TT reports.

Writing in a letter of intent, the Hungarian commission recognized Lund as the chosen city, offering to support the facility financially. Hungary had actively campaigned to house ESS itself, and had yet to support the decision to award Lund the site, which came in May this year.

Similar facilities already exist in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan. Construction is expected to be completed at the end of the coming decade.
