A Swedish appeals court decided Thursday to grant a retrial to convicted serial killer Thomas Quick. The case involves the killing of an Israeli tourist in 1988. Quick confessed to the murder but now says he was under the influence of drugs when he made the confession, and was unaware of forensic evidence that argued against his guilt.
Altogether Quick confessed to around 30 murders in Sweden and Norway between 1964 and 1990, and was taken to trial and convicted for eight. He withdrew his confessions last year, and plans to seek retrials for the other sentences as well.
