Skiing Season Under Threat

Climate change is threatening Swedish skiing tourism.

While one of the major ski resort operators in Sweden reported a record season Friday, experts are warning their best days may be behind them. A researcher at the Swedish weather service tells Swedish Radio News that under their worst case scenarios, within a couple of decades the skiing season in the Swedish mountains would be shortened by up to several months.

At the present rate of increase in greenhouse gas emissions, Erik Kjellström of the weather service says, the affect on climate will continue to grow.
