Negotiations Continue

Despite Monday’s announcement by US auto giant General Motors to wind down Saab, negotiations about a possible takeover of the ailing Swedish car brand continue. Swedish Radio news quotes anonymous sources within GM as saying that talks with Dutch luxury carmaker Spyker are still going on.

The sources also claim that Spyker is the only competitor left in the battle for a takeover of Saab. On Monday afternoon, GM’s CEO Ed Whitacre confirmed in Detroit that the winding down of Saab was proceeding, but that the race for appropriate bidders was still open. Swedish unions are planning to hold a rally at Saab’s Trollhättan plant where 3,400 people are employed.
